How large should a vacuum pump be?

Postby penumbra » Sat Nov 21, 2015 4:44 am

Hi guys,
I would like to acquire a vacuum pump to use in my CNC router table butIi do not have any idea on the size of the vacuum pump that should go for. Any ideas please?
Cheers

Hi Penumbra,
I would say that the vacuum pump will depend on the size of the table. A large table will require more pump.

There is a general rule of thumb that 40 HP on 5' * 10 * table while a 4' * 8' table should us a 25 HP

the vacuum pump should depend with the table size. However the vacuum pump which is as low as 12HP has its own problems such as leaks.
