Yes, the parts manufactured by 3D metal printers are incredible. However, when it comes to surface finish, it is disastrous especially parts which needs to fit accurately or precise mechanical system.
Their surface finish materials are generally rough resulting from partially melted raw materials.

Wow, that is quite some insight Jahrastafari. Peace brother. :D

Let me chip in with a tidbit. I would consider them to be expensive with longer build time. Just look at the available market data. A new 3D printer will set you back by thousands of euros. We are back to the pioneer period once again, just like in the '70s, 80s and early 90s computers.
3D metal printing machines are costly taking into account it does not build quickly. Even though their metal powder can be recycled, it is still expensive to produce.

I agree with you man. From my own opinion, CNC machines are the best. I would say CNC machines are cost effective compare to 3D printers. It takes a longer build up time.

Time is money and more wasted time is costly. I also think the rough surface finish produced by 3D printers creates a lot of waste which are also expensive for your company. Case in point, you will have to redo them or use another machine to correct the mistakes since no customers will go for poor quality products.

You may solve this using higher resolutions, but that has its share of problems. The only thing to do in this case is get enough money and procure or build a CNC from the ground up.

Both of them are great. At the end everyone gets to choose any of them according to the preferences that they have.

CNC is good but 3D printing is simply awesome.
