Best material for sign making

Last night a friend of mine called me and asked that I make some signs for her. She wants them 2m long by 2m high. I was thinking of using MDF but then I thought of the weight. I need to recess the face of the sign in by 12mm. this will leave a raised edge border. I will the v-route the words for about 10 mm. I will then mount the sign between two posts. I am yet to decide on the material of the posts but I am inclined towards steel posts. Should I use MDF or is there any other light material that I can use? I welcome your views.

Foamed PVC would do.

Use MDF and your customers will go elsewhere next time. Marine ply would work better.

Or perhaps get regular replacement after every six months as MDF won’t last longer than that

You are surely not encouraging Alexandra to do that.
