A Cordial Welcome to AmateurCNC

Postby 5so95n » Sat Feb 21, 2015 11:50 am

AmateurCNC.com? What on earth (and Mars) is That About?

AmateurCNC is a forum where you can join fellow CNC enthusiasts, hobbyists, engineers, machinists and people who want to learn all about these beautiful machines. If you are interested in making your own CNC router - or wish to learn how it works, you may join the forum and become a member. Don't worry, everybody in the forum is a valued contributor.

For someone asking, CNC = Computer Numerical Command router. These heavy-duty machines make metalwork and woodwork an infinitely easier, even for someone has never carved a potato before. You can make anything from a mannequin to parts for Raspberry Pi.

Although the name "AmateurCNC" seems to indicate that only people who have their feet on the door to the field are active in this site. This is not the case. Rather, it caters for hobbyists of all skill levels. If you are just getting started, there are boards just tailored for you. For the members who know a thing or two about g-coding and other advanced topics, here is the place to showcase your expertise. The world of the Routers is a massive field - the learning curve is gentle but new applications are being discovered day by day.

For people with questions, you may post them on the forum. If you see something familiar help a brother (or sister out). It is also your time to shine - and who knows - your work could get noticed, and you can make something tidy out of it! The possibilities are endless.

So, a very, most, infinitely, warm and cordial welcome to you. You are awesome. :)

A cordial welcome to amateur CNC
Yah, Jackal feel free to document your ideas, whether they make sense or they are just a bunch of nonsense. You are still welcome to contribute.

I find the discussions here very informative. Its unfortunate that I could never say the same about most machine sites on the net.

AmateurCNC.com strikes me as a very good site for CNC enthusiasts and newbies. Starting this site for users was much more than a great idea.
