Coupler question

Postby QuothHe » Thu Aug 20, 2015 4:41 pm

Hello everyone,
Am building for the very first time and my project involves using CNC hobby kits 200oz and the X2 mini mill. Please advice me on weather am supposed to connect the steppers directly with the lead-screw or should I use the belt drive in increasing the stepper's torque.
The way i see it is that considering time and cost am better off with the first choice.
Please tell me, what do you think?

You could instead use the Lovejoy connectors. You will just need to get 2 of the same connector type, for instance the L-050, and ensure that one has a 3/8th bore while the other has 1/2 bore. The spider comes in between the 2 halves. In the past i have tried this on a 3/8th leadscrew and 1/4" stepper shaft with notable success.

My advice is that you should stick with your preference for the direct connection. Its the choice that makes more sense to me too.
