The 4th axis

Postby concernedmachinist » Sat Oct 03, 2015 9:10 pm

I need to machine some large 11.5" diameter 1/4" plate. Does anyone here have the relevant experience to guide me through this using the 4th axis?

I once did it but with the manual mill being one that was limited in Y. However i too had intended to surface a 12-in square plate and double-side taped the work piece to the top of the rotary table. This was something that worked well enough given that the only thing needed were light surfacing cuts, but it was a bit tricky to get everything lined up right and to get the machined plate off the surface plate.
