Can I get a laser for less than £1900?

Postby kalima » Sun Apr 24, 2016 5:26 am

I am looking for a laser machine in both eBay and Amazon. I have some orders to make logos on chopping boards. Due to healthy reasons, I cannot engrave the logos with a cutter. I also need to burn images onto wood.

You will definitely get one at eBay.

I have had an opportunity to go through what people say in other forums. Most guys there said that different laser types are required for different materials. But I saw one in eBay which is said to engrave a wide array of materials. I was wondering whether the eBay info is just a marketing strategy. Do I need to find a laser that is only for wood?

What I know is that it is easy to burn images on wood using a low power laser. Cutting? I do not know…

I use a high powered 445 diode for engraving only. Why don’t you try combining some of them as they can give double power

I would advise you to build your own. It won’t cost you more than £1000.

Thanks, but I don’t have whole the time to build. I need to start working immediately.

I think that is just a marketing hype. A 50w will cut birch ply well while a 40W will cut pine smartly.

I have a 40W Chinese laser which I bought at eBay. While it is easy to use, the software is somehow limited. I am hoping to get a 60W in eBay too… but I doubt if they have got one.

So what you guys are saying is that the lasers work on different materials?
