Blast gates for dust extraction

Postby kelY » Thu Sep 24, 2015 8:13 pm

Hi folks..
Am planning on installing a system for dust extraction using blast gates for selecting the machine to be extracted. I have seen pictures of them mounted in both horizontal and vertical runs of pipework, is either any better than the other?
I would also like to ask whether i should set them up for the gates to slide horizontally or vertically?

Hello,
Whether they are vertical or horizontal is not what matters, for what you have you would better find a position to make sure that crap doesn't clog up the slots through which the gate slides in. Also you will notice that metal ones are much easier to operate than plastic ones and less likely to go stiff if dirt gets in beside the sliding gate.
Why procrastinate today? When you can do it tomorrow!
