Making an Hydraulic Arm

Postby Castro » Sat Feb 27, 2016 5:42 pm

Hi guys
I found this Video showing how you can make your own simple hydraulic machine. This simple Hydraulic arm is powered using a simple syringe hydraulic system. Awesome!
This DIY machine was made by a guy called Mist8k

Some of the materials that you will require are syringes, an electro-magnet, some small nails, an O table coaster, some lolly sticks just to mention a few.

Step One: Pin a thin lid to the O table coaster.
For the rotating base of the arm, a tin lid is used. A hole is drilled at the center of this thin lid. The lid is then pinned into place using a drawing pin. A perler bead is used as a spacer to allow free movement of the lid.

Step 2: Making the arm:
To make the actual arm, two large lolly sticks and four standardized sticks are used. To give the sticks a mechanical look, pain them with a color of your choice. In this case, they were pained gray.

Step 3: Two holes are then made at the end of the larger sticks. The holes should be 1 inch apart. The other ends are slightly cut off

Step 4: Drill holes on the other four sticks.
On the four standardized sticks, two holes that are 1.5 inches apart are drilled at one end and only one hole on the other end.

Step 5: Making the Hydraulics.
For the hydraulics, you will need six 1 ml syringes.
Assembling the first hydraulic. Glue a perler bead to the handle and then glue a plastic cable tie to the top end of the tube

To assemble the second hydraulic, do the same as the first one but this time, glue the plastic cable tie at the bottom of the tube.
