Re: Homemade CNC v2.0 Machine

With the above steps, the CNC v2.0 machine is complete.
The gear ratio of the DC motors is 30:1. The current running through the windings is 1.2 amps at 12 v operating motors.
I will come back with demonstrations on how the machine is used.

Bye for now!

Step 9: Connecting the Carriages to the Four Drives

The carriages are connected to the drive through the 6 mm threads and the 10 mm bolts. Put some lubricants on the threaded bars to reduce the friction. You need four drives in total: Two for the x axis, one for the y axis and one for the z axis.

Re: Homemade CNC v2.0 Machine

Step 8: Mounting the thread bars for the drive. The threaded bar is mounted using four nuts and two ball bearings with an inner diameter of 6 mm. One ball bearing is to the left and the other to the right of the joint. Tighten the nuts such that the ball bearings are pressed against the angle joint.

Re: Homemade CNC v2.0 Machine

Step 5: Assembly of x-carriage Mount the bolt with the 6 mm thread and the ball bearings on the square tube. That is the first half of the X- carriage. The other part will be running on a flat aluminium bar. Both halves are connected through a compound made angle profile and a square tube. Step 6: ...

Re: Homemade CNC v2.0 Machine

Step 4: Cutting 6 mm Threads

Three taps are needed to cut the threads. The, bottoming tap which is marked by one ring at the shaft, the Intermediate tap marked with two rings on the shaft, and the Taper tap marked with no ring at the shaft.
A 6 mm bolt should fit to the hole.

Re: Homemade CNC v2.0 Machine

Step 3: Drill holes on the edge of a square tube The drill hole for the ball bearing must close to the lower edge of the iron tube but not too close. There must be an offset between the drill holes at two side of the tube because the balls and nut used to mount the ball bearing should not touch eac...

Re: Homemade CNC v2.0 Machine

Step 2: Mounting the ball bearings Triangular tubes are used as linear guides for the x and y axes. Four ball bearings are attached to a piece of square tube with the lengths of approximately 20 cm. The inner diameter of the ball bearings is 10 mm. the outer diameter should be large enough such as ...
