Yes you are very right, there is is no reduction and now i suspect that this has been the problem all along. Hi all, Lately i have been experiencing problems with my machine which is has been bogging down and stalling steppers. I suspect that the problem is originating from the x axis, but am sure that i also missed a couple of steps on the Y. My X axis is driven by 3.1Nm stepper. On skimming the bed some ...

My advice is that you should stick with your preference for the direct connection. Its the choice that makes more sense to me too.
