Does the spindle/servo accept ±10 vdc? If It does, then it requires a PWM to analogue converter for Mach.

I recommend that you use a servo instead of the Mach 3. Servos are much cheaper and i have reservations concerning the working of a Mach 3.

You could use the servo or the stepper controllers. These will help you control well the positioning external to the PC in Mach.

I don’t know if this helps; I have the same problem. I have a 36X48X6 DIY CNC machine. I feel like I am in using the device badly. Maybe we can get together and make some more random things during weekends.
